About Machame Camp (Machame Hut)
Situated at the upper edge of the lush rainforest, Machame Camp offers a transition from dense canopy to the heath and moorland zone. It is famous for being the first introduction to the "climb high, sleep low" strategy. The atmosphere is social and communal, often bustling with climbers and crews preparing for the next day's steeper ascent to Shira Plateau.

Everything You Need to Know
Are there showers at Machame Camp?
No. There are no showers. Porters provide a small basin of warm water for "body washes" in the morning and evening.
Is there cell service or Wi-Fi?
Signal is extremely spotty. You may find a "bar" near the Ranger Station or specific clearings, but do not rely on it. There is no Wi-Fi.
Is the water safe to drink?
The mountain crew collects water from streams and boils or filters it for you. Do not drink untreated stream water.
Will it freeze at night?
It is possible. While Machame is lower than other camps, temperatures can drop to $0^\circ C$ ($32^\circ F$) or lower during the dry season.
