About Okonjima plains Camp
Honoring the cattle-farming history of the area, Okonjima Plains Camp features an elegant, barn-style design that blends industrial chic with rustic African warmth. The central hub, known as the "Barn," includes a spacious dining area, a lounge with an open fireplace, a bar, and a curio shop. The camp looks out over an expansive, grassy plain, allowing guests to watch wildlife grazing right from the main deck or the swimming pool. Okonjima is world-renowned as the home of the AfriCat Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the long-term conservation of Namibia's large carnivores, particularly cheetahs and leopards.

Can you see leopards and cheetahs at Okonjima Plains Camp?
Yes. Okonjima is a private nature reserve and the headquarters of the AfriCat Foundation. Guests can book specialized activities to track radio-collared leopards from open safari vehicles or track rehabilitated cheetahs on foot.
Is the camp accessible for standard 2WD vehicles?
Yes. The turn-off from the main paved B1 highway leads onto a 24km gravel road directly into the reserve. While the road is regularly maintained and accessible via a standard 2WD car, a high-clearance vehicle or 4x4 makes the drive more comfortable.
What is the difference between Plains Camp and Bush Camp?
Both are located on the same reserve, but Okonjima Plains Camp is larger, family-friendly, and features an open, modern barn design facing wide plains. Okonjima Bush Camp is an upscale, more intimate luxury lodge featuring earth-toned, thatch chalets shaped like traditional African huts.
Are activities included automatically in the room price?
Standard bookings are on a Half Board basis where activities are booked and paid for separately upon arrival. However, Fully Inclusive packages can be pre-arranged to cover two signature reserve activities per day.
