About Anderssons at Ongava Lodge
Rebuilt and transformed into a contemporary masterpiece of ecotourism, Anderssons at Ongava blends high-end Afro-Mediterranean design with rigorous conservation research. Constructed from natural stone, glass, and wood, the lodge centers around an exceptionally active waterhole. It serves as the physical home of the independently funded Ongava Research Centre (ORC), an advanced scientific hub where guests can interact with resident scientists and explore an interactive discovery auditorium. The property is world-renowned for its successful black and white rhino reintroduction initiatives and features an underground, water-level photographic hide for eye-level wildlife viewing.

Everything You Need to Know
What makes Anderssons at Ongava different from the other Ongava lodges?
While properties like Little Ongava focus entirely on ultra-exclusive isolation, Anderssons is designed as an interactive eco-hub. It hosts the Ongava Research Centre on-property, giving guests a chance to deeply engage with wildlife biology and conservation tech while staying in complete luxury.
Can children stay at Anderssons at Ongava?
Yes, children of all ages are welcome, and the lodge features a specialized Family Suite made of two identically luxurious units linked by a short walkway. Note that for families traveling with children under 12, a private safari vehicle must be booked for activities.
How does the underground photographic hide work?
A reinforced structural tunnel leads safely from the main camp area to a sunken, water-level bunker right at the lip of the primary waterhole. This allows photographers to sit safely at eye-level with drinking rhinos, lions, and plains game without disturbing the wildlife.
Are park fees and drinks included in the standard rate?
Yes. Because the lodge operates almost exclusively on a Fully Inclusive package tier, your daily rates cover all local spirits, wines, beers, soft drinks, daily laundry service, reserve conservation fees, and national park entry fees.
