About Okaukuejo Resort
Operated by Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), is the oldest, largest, and most famous camp inside Etosha National Park. While the accommodations and buffet services lean toward standard, functional state-run quality rather than boutique luxury, the resort's absolute crowning jewel is its world-renowned, floodlit waterhole. Enclosed by a safe stone wall just meters from the camp's edge, this waterhole attracts continuous wildlife traffic, making it one of the premier locations on Earth to sit and watch endangered black rhinos, elephant herds, lions, and diverse plains game interact throughout the day and night.

Everything You Need to Know
Are the premium Waterhole Chalets worth the extra cost?
Yes, for wildlife enthusiasts they are highly recommended. Booking a frontline Premier or Double Waterhole chalet puts your private porch or balcony just meters away from the low stone wall overlooking the active waterhole, allowing you to watch rhinos and lions without leaving your room
Can you access the waterhole if you are staying in a standard Double Room or Camping?
Absolutely. The floodlit waterhole area has a large public viewing section lined with stone benches that is open 24 hours a day to every registered guest inside the resort, including campers.
Is Wi-Fi available at Okaukuejo Resort?
Wi-Fi is available around the main reception and restaurant area, but it requires purchasing prepaid vouchers. Due to the remote location and high guest volume, the signal can be slow and intermittent.
Do we need to worry about park gate times?
Yes. The main Andersson Gate closes strictly at sunset and opens at sunrise. If you are staying at Okaukuejo Resort, you must be fully clear of the gate checkpoints before the scheduled sunset time, or you will face park penalties and be locked out.
