Everything You Need to Know
What is the main benefit of staying at Ongava Lodge versus inside Etosha National Park?
Staying at Ongava offers a high-end, intimate luxury environment with fine dining and private guides. Crucially, because it is a private reserve, you can participate in activities prohibited inside the national park, such as night game drives, off-roading, and tracking wild rhinos on foot.
Can children stay at Ongava Lodge?
Yes, children of all ages are welcome, and the lodge features a dedicated Family Suite comprised of two luxury bedrooms connected by a short walkway. Please note that families traveling with children under 12 must secure a private safari vehicle for activities.
Is the waterhole in front of the lodge active at night?
Extremely active. The waterhole sitting at the base of the hill is floodlit 24 hours a day. It is a vital water source in an arid region, frequently attracting lions, leopards, elephant herds, and both black and white rhinos well into the night.
Do I need a 4x4 to reach the lodge?
A 4x4 is not required to reach the secure reserve parking area where self-drive guests leave their vehicles. The lodge provides transfers up the steep, rocky dolomite hill to the main camp in their open safari trucks.
