About Twyfelfontein Country Lodge
Nestled flush against the base of a sweeping red sandstone mountain range, Twyfelfontein Country Lodge was architecturally designed to minimize its visual impact on the sensitive desert terrain. Built using natural stone, thatched roofing, and custom-blended paints that mimic the surrounding earth tones, the lodge blends directly into the landscape. The central, open-fronted lounge, bar, and restaurant area look out onto the vast plains of the Huab Valley, offering travelers a highly immersive heritage experience right on the doorstep of Namibia's premier prehistoric monument.

Everything You Need to Know
Is there wireless internet access inside the individual rooms?
No. To support the property's remote eco-lodge feel, rooms are kept free of televisions and internet signals. Paid Wi-Fi vouchers can be easily purchased at the front reception desk for use around the main lounge, bar, and central dining areas.
Are desert-adapted elephants commonly found near the property?
Yes. The lodge runs daily, guided 4x4 ephemeral river drives into the dry Aba Huab and Huab riverbeds. While wildlife movements are unpredictable, family herds of desert-adapted elephants regularly travel through these sandy corridors to feed on mopane trees and tap into underground water tracks.
Can we walk to the rock engraving sites by ourselves from the lodge?
While the lodge is located only 4 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage site, walking independently across the hot terrain is discouraged due to extreme heat and wandering wildlife. Guests typically take a 5-minute drive to the Twyfelfontein Visitors Centre, where local heritage guides accompany all visitors along the historical paths.
What other unique natural or geological attractions can be found nearby?
The lodge sits within an incredibly active geological zone. Within a quick 15-to-30-minute drive, guests can easily visit the basalt column formations known as the Organ Pipes, the volcanic landscape of Burnt Mountain, Doros Crater, and the ancient logs at the Petrified Forest.
