The hiking experience typically covers a network of community trails that connect the three distinct tiers of waterfalls.

Waterfall 1 (Main Falls): The most iconic, dropping nearly 100 meters. This is the primary site for abseiling.
Waterfall 2 (Simba Falls): A 74-meter drop that features a small cave behind the curtain of water, perfect for cooling off.
Waterfall 3 (Ngasire Falls): At roughly 85 meters, this tier offers the most expansive views of the Karamoja plains below.

The walk takes you directly through smallholder coffee farms and local villages. Most tours include a "crop-to-cup" coffee demonstration where you can help roast and grind your own Arabica beans. Unlike many national park hikes, Sipi is a community-run experience, meaning your guide is usually a resident who can share personal stories about the land and its history.

Can I hike Sipi Falls without a guide?

While the trails are technically through community land, a guide is highly recommended. They navigate the unmarked intersections, manage "access fees" for private land viewpoints, and provide essential cultural context.

When is the best time of day to hike?

Morning (8:00 AM) is best. The air is cooler, and the views over the plains are usually clearest before the afternoon clouds or mist roll in.

Is it safe during the rainy season?

Yes, but the trails become much more challenging. The waterfalls are at their most powerful and dramatic during the rains (March–May), but you will need high-quality waterproof boots and a rain poncho.

Can I swim in the falls?

You can take a refreshing dip at the base of the second waterfall (Simba), but be cautious as the rocks are slippery and the water can be quite cold.
