Experience Burunge Wildlife Management Area.
Established in 2003, the Burunge Wildlife Management Area covers approximately 283 square kilometer of land owned by local communities. It was created to provide a protected buffer zone that allows wildlife to move freely between the Tarangire and Manyara ecosystems. The landscape is a beautiful mix of acacia woodlands, open plains, and the alkaline waters of Lake Burunge. Unlike the busier national parks, Burunge offers a more secluded atmosphere. It is managed by the local villages, meaning tourism revenue directly supports community development, schools, and healthcare, making it a premier destination for sustainable and ethical travel.

What activities are available besides game drives?
Burunge is excellent for guided nature walks, birdwatching tours, and cultural visits to the local villages that manage the area.
