Trip Overview
This stunning yet affordable tour
is carefully crafted to deliver the best of Zimbabwe in just six days. Your
journey opens in Victoria Falls, the legendary waterfall known locally as
Mosi-oa-Tunya — 'The Smoke That Thunders' — one of the Seven Natural Wonders of
the World. With 1,708 metres of cascading curtain and a roar that can be heard
40 kilometres away, the falls are a jaw-dropping spectacle that must be
witnessed in person.
You will be accommodated at
Pioneers Lodge, a charming mid-range lodge nestled in the quiet residential
suburbs of Victoria Falls, featuring lush gardens, two swimming pools, and
spacious, comfortable rooms. Two full days are yours to explore at your own
pace — wander the famous rainforest trails, feel the mist on your face at the
viewpoints, browse vibrant local markets, or indulge in adrenaline-fuelled
optional activities including white-water rafting, bungee jumping, sunset
cruises, scenic helicopter flights, and much more.
From Victoria Falls, a scenic
three-hour road transfer takes you deep into the heart of Hwange National Park
— Zimbabwe's largest game reserve spanning over 14,600 square kilometres. You
will be welcomed at Sable Valley Lodge, an intimate camp on a private
concession bordering the park with no fences separating you from the wild. The
camp overlooks a permanently active waterhole where elephants, buffalo, and
other wildlife gather continuously throughout the day and night, offering
extraordinary viewing right from camp.
Three full days of guided game
drives, walking safaris, and thrilling night drives will reveal the astonishing
diversity of Hwange's wildlife. Expert field guides bring the bush to life with
their intimate knowledge of tracking, ecology, and animal behaviour. A
photographic hide, elevated viewing platform, and exclusive star bed experience
add further layers of magic to your stay. As the final day arrives, you will
depart with memories of wild Africa etched permanently into your heart.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a visa to visit Zimbabwe?
Most nationalities require a visa to enter Zimbabwe. Many visitors can obtain a KAZA (Kavango Zambezi) UniVisa on arrival for USD 50, which also covers Zambia — ideal if you plan to view the falls from both sides. We recommend checking the latest visa requirements for your nationality before travel and budgeting for visa fees as these are excluded from the tour price.
Is this tour suitable for first-time safari travellers?
Absolutely! This package is specifically designed to offer an authentic yet accessible introduction to African safari. The expert guides at Sable Valley Lodge are highly experienced in hosting first-timers and will tailor activities to your comfort level, whether that is a gentle game drive or a more immersive walking safari.
What optional activities are available at Victoria Falls?
Victoria Falls is Africa's adventure capital, offering an extraordinary range of activities including white-water rafting on the Zambezi (one of the world's best), bungee jumping off Victoria Falls Bridge, scenic helicopter flights over the falls, sunset river cruises, elephant interactions, cultural village tours, and zip-lining. All optional activities are at your own expense and can be pre-booked through us or arranged locally.
What wildlife can I expect to see in Hwange National Park?
Hwange is home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations — it is not unusual to see herds of 100 or more at the waterhole directly in front of Sable Valley Lodge. The park also supports lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, wild dog (seasonal), hyena, and over 400 bird species. Night drives offer the opportunity to spot nocturnal species such as leopard, civets, and a fascinating array of owls.
What should I pack for this safari?
Pack lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing in khaki, olive, beige, or brown (avoid bright colours and white on game drives). Include a light fleece or jacket for early morning and evening game drives (Hwange can be surprisingly cold June–August), comfortable walking shoes, sun hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera with extra memory cards, and any personal medications. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking.
