Trip Overview

This 7-day specialized program is designed for those seeking a classic Kilimanjaro experience with the added comfort of hut accommodations. Starting in the gateway town of Moshi, the route ascends through the dense mountain rainforest, across the alpine moorland of the Maundi Crater, and through the high-altitude desert of the Saddle. Climbers stay in the well-known Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo Huts, which provide a social and sturdy environment for rest. The expedition reaches its peak with a midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) before descending back through the varied climate zones to receive official recognition of the achievement.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the Parkview Hotel in Moshi or the mountain village of Marangu. Surrounded by coffee bushes and banana groves, this area serves as an ideal base for your initial acclimatization at approximately 1,600 meters. In the afternoon, you will meet your guide for a pre-trekking briefing and have the opportunity to visit a vibrant local market to soak in the Tanzanian culture before your climb begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called the "Coca-Cola Route"?

It earned this nickname because it was traditionally considered the "easiest" route where supplies (like soft drinks) were once sold at the huts.

Do I need to bring a tent?

No, the Marangu Route is unique because all climbers stay in permanent wooden sleeping huts with mattresses.

Is the summit climb difficult?

The final push is physically demanding due to the altitude and steep scree, but our expert guides use a careful "pole pole" (slowly, slowly) pace to maximize success.

What is the accommodation like?

Huts are basic but sturdy, featuring bunk beds and shared dining halls, providing much better protection from the elements than a tent.
