Trip Overview
The 10-Day Kenyan Classics Safari is our signature flagship
itinerary — a masterfully designed journey that captures Kenya's unrivalled
wildlife diversity, ecological variety, and cultural richness in a single,
seamless adventure. Uniquely, this package includes travel insurance and
tourist visa costs for all bookings, giving you complete peace of mind from the
moment you depart.
The safari opens in Samburu National Reserve, a rugged and
remote wilderness in Kenya's north that most visitors never reach. Samburu's
ancient, semi-arid landscapes along the Ewaso Nyiro River harbour a remarkable
cast of wildlife found nowhere else on Earth — the reticulated giraffe with its
bold geometric patterns, the stately Grevy's zebra with its finely striped
coat, the gerenuk standing upright on hind legs to browse acacia leaves, and
the beisa oryx with its sabre-like horns. Two days here provide an exclusive,
crowd-free safari experience of extraordinary intimacy.
From Samburu, you journey south to Ol Pejeta Conservancy —
East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary and one of its most visionary
conservation projects. Here, alongside the iconic Big Five, you visit a
chimpanzee sanctuary (the only place in Kenya to see rescued chimpanzees) and
learn about the conservancy's heroic efforts to save the critically endangered
black rhino from extinction.
The route then descends through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru
National Park, where flamingos, rhinos, and Rothschild's giraffes inhabit one
of Kenya's most scenically beautiful parks. A visit to the thundering Thomson's
Falls en route adds a dramatic natural interlude.
The legendary Masai Mara needs little introduction. Two full
days in Kenya's most celebrated wildlife reserve offer the highest
concentration of Big Five sightings in Africa, with lions, cheetahs, leopards,
elephants, and vast herds of plains game roaming the iconic golden savannah.
Lake Naivasha provides a tranquil interlude — a boat safari,
walking with giraffes on Crescent Island — before the grand finale: Amboseli
National Park, where massive elephant herds move in stately procession beneath
the snow-capped magnificence of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak.
Ten days. Six destinations. Six unique ecosystems. One unforgettable Kenya.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your extraordinary 10-day safari adventure begins with pick-up from Nairobi as you journey north through the fertile highlands, past Mount Kenya's jagged peaks, and into the remote, sun-baked landscapes of Samburu National Reserve — a wilderness that feels genuinely far from the world. Arrive at the beautifully situated Soroi Samburu Lodge in time for a welcoming lunch and relaxation before heading out on your first afternoon game drive along the serpentine Ewaso Nyiro River — the lifeline of Samburu's ecosystem. Samburu National Reserve is Kenya's most exclusive large reserve, offering an atmosphere of genuine remoteness and intimate wildlife encounters. The reserve is renowned for its 'Samburu Special Five' — species endemic to northern Kenya found nowhere else in Africa's more visited parks: the reticulated giraffe in its bold mosaic patterns, the Grevy's zebra with its impossibly fine stripes, the gerenuk balancing on hind legs to reach acacia leaves, the Somali ostrich with its blue neck, and the beisa oryx with magnificent swept-back horns. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner beneath the vast northern sky.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Samburu National Reserve different from other Kenyan parks?
Samburu is Kenya's most exclusive large wildlife reserve, offering a genuinely remote and intimate safari experience. Its most remarkable distinction is the 'Samburu Special Five' — five wildlife species endemic to northern Kenya found nowhere else in the country's more visited parks: the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, Somali ostrich, and beisa oryx. The reserve's quieter atmosphere, dramatic semi-arid scenery, and the serpentine Ewaso Nyiro River make it one of Africa's most unique and compelling safari experiences.
What is Ol Pejeta Conservancy and why is it significant?
Ol Pejeta is East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary and one of the continent's most successful and innovative conservation operations. It protects both black and white rhinos, harbours the Big Five, and is the only place in Kenya where rescued chimpanzees live in a naturalistic sanctuary. Ol Pejeta was also home to Sudan — the last male northern white rhino — until his death in 2018. The conservancy is a global leader in rhino conservation, anti-poaching technology, and community-based conservation. A visit here is both a thrilling wildlife experience and a profound conservation education.
Are the tourist visa and travel insurance really included?
Yes — this is one of the most genuinely valuable features of the 10-Day Kenyan Classics Safari. The Kenyan ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) and a comprehensive travel insurance policy are both included in the package price at no extra cost. Your booking consultant will coordinate your ETA application and provide full insurance documentation. This means you can book with complete confidence and peace of mind, knowing all the essentials are covered.
How far is each drive between destinations?
The distances are well-managed across the 10-day itinerary. Nairobi to Samburu is approximately 4–5 hours. Samburu to Ol Pejeta is approximately 3 hours. Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru (via Thomson's Falls) is approximately 3 hours. Lake Nakuru to the Masai Mara is approximately 4–5 hours. The Mara to Lake Naivasha is approximately 3 hours. Lake Naivasha to Amboseli is approximately 4–5 hours. All drives are scenic and enjoyable, with planned stops at viewpoints, restaurants, and attractions along the way. Our 4x4 vehicles are comfortable for long journeys.
Can I see the Great Wildebeest Migration on this safari?
The Masai Mara section of this safari (Days 5–6) gives you excellent opportunities to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration if you travel between July and October. This is when over 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras cross from the Serengeti into the Mara, with the dramatic Mara River crossings being one of nature's most spectacular events. Outside this season, the Mara is still home to large resident wildebeest herds and exceptional predator activity.
Can this itinerary be customised or extended?
Yes! All our itineraries are fully customisable. We can add extra nights in any destination, upgrade accommodations to luxury camps and lodges, incorporate additional activities such as cultural visits, bush walks, or hot-air balloon safaris, or extend your journey with a Tanzania Serengeti safari combination or a Kenyan coast beach holiday at Diani, Watamu, or Lamu. Contact our safari specialists to design your perfect, personalised Kenya adventure.
What level of accommodation does this safari offer?
This safari uses a carefully selected range of mid-range properties: Soroi Samburu Lodge, Sweetwaters Serena Camp (the only luxury upgrade — included), Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, Zebra Plains Mara Camp, Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp, and Amboseli Sopa Lodge. All properties feature ensuite facilities, excellent dining, comfortable beds, swimming pools or communal facilities, and prime locations for wildlife proximity. Sweetwaters Serena Camp at Ol Pejeta is a particularly special property — a luxury tented camp with exceptional décor and riverside settings.
